Polybutene

Polybutene is a clear, viscous, non-drying synthetic oil widely used in cosmetics for its gloss, smooth texture, and long-lasting feel. It is especially popular in lip products because it creates a high-shine, non-sticky finish while improving wear time.

How to Use

1. Lip Gloss / Lip Oil (your main use)

• Use: 40% – 90%
• Acts as the base ingredient
• Combine with: oils, waxes, pigments

2. Lipstick / Lip Cream

• Use: 5% – 20%
• Improves glide and pigment dispersion

3. Balms & Ointments

• Use: 5% – 30%
• Adds shine and a protective layer

Formulation Tips

• Add to the oil phase
• Can be used cold process (no heating needed)
• Blends well with:
  • Castor oil
  • Hydrogenated polyisobutene
  • Waxes (beeswax, candelilla, etc.)
• Helps reduce bleeding in lip products
